Aesthetics & Anti-aging medicine

The aim of aesthetic medicine is to make the results look beautifully natural.

Anti-ageing Botox and fillers give more volume to the cheeks, lift the brows and smooth the forehead frown lines.

The idea behind facial rejuvenation is to lift the eyebrows and open the eyes, and to give volume to the upper-third of the face. As soon as we do that, you take five to 10 years off your actual age.

Botox, which is a temporary muscle relaxant, lasts about four months before your body metabolises it, and filler lasts eight to 12 months.

Botox is used mainly for wrinkles or facial expression; it takes about two weeks to fully develop and to soften the wrinkles of expression.

You can compare filler to Polyfilla; when filler is applied we see immediate before and after results.

Dr Xenephin Ludick

Aesthetics and Anti-ageing Medicine

DR Xen, completed his MBChB at the University of Pretoria in 2004 and did his government responsibilities in Cape Town and Boksburg before moving into private practice.

He became a partner in one of Johannesburg's premier ER units as well as a private practice in the esteemed Melrose Arch. It was there in The Arch Medical and Melrose Aesthetic Centre where he developed his passion for Anti-Aging and Preventative Medicine. He realized that medicine is in its nature, a retrospective science. Once a problem occurs, it is treated. He believes that it would make more sense to be proactive and increase ones health-span rather than waiting for problems to arise.

In 2010 Dr Xen joined Skin & Body Renewal where he spent 7 years of his professional career before joining the team at The Aesthetics Centre and, subsequently, saw his dream of helping create a world-class Anti-aging Centre with a like-minded partner like Dr Burt Jooste which became a reality at the Longevity Centre.
